arKos is a growing plugin collection targeting architectural design. at the moment it features a handrail plugin for creating all kind of handrails (and of course other structures, eg. fences or grids). see the gallery for some examples.

the handrail-object is a parametric object which takes a spline as a child and builds its structure along it. this structure consists of the following sub-parts. Each can be activated or deactivated. there is a container subobject generated which can hold the custom parts to make the reuse easier.

the general handrail tab offers parameters for changing basic height, setting render instances, inclination and follow pillar option for the rail objects. the other parameter sections are described below:

Top Rail

Top Rail

Creates a top rail using width, height and offset parameters. Possible contures are square, circle or user-defined spline.

This creates balusters between the pillars either by distance or by count. supports square, circle and user-defined objects. can be aligned to the spline angle. additional top and bottom detail objects can be used for mountings or decorational objects.

Baluster size/ position can be bound to rails and the distribution can be done by number of balusters or by distance.

Inner Plate

The last part creates a plate or structure within the pillars. for example glas plates. a user defined object can be used as a fill pattern as well. by choosing double plane option one can create quite complex looking structures without using performance heavy geometry.

here you can download some example scenes to check out or help you getting started. files found in this section use the plugin in full version. some files may contain different render elements as the creator uses such an external renderer. this does not affect the plugin object itself. so you can just ignore the warnings and use your own materials in those cases.
